Reviews

Architects of Desire has been participating in an online songwriting contest at SongFight.org.  It’s been a really fun and constructive experience so far and I recommend it to any songwriter looking for a new challenge or maybe just inspiration.

As well as submitting votes for songs, users also contribute by writing their own reviews of the tracks.  Here are some of the user reviews we have received so far:

Please Stop! No, I mean it. Please Stop (reviews)

Compared to last weeks tunes, these are kickin some butt. I’m really digging this tune. A nice solid smokey slow groove. Great production value. Vocals sound great and the vocalist has a great singing voice. Piano really adds a lot to this tune and mellows me out nicely. Superb entry, gets a vote from me.

This hits all the right buttons for me. “you’re only makin’ it harder on… [BEAT DROP] me” = ingenious. Vinyl crackle; haunting, possessed piano; fuck, this is great.

Very relaxing & sweet tune. Enjoyed the vocals.

I dig this quite a bit. The beat and piano reminds me a bit of The Boondocks opening theme, barring the missing rap. Excellent singing and great delivery. Very passionate for a song written in 10 days. I like the very minimal acoustic against all of the other acoustic instruments that have a very electronic feel. Great textures. Definitely gets a vote from me.

Excellent band name by the way. I love this. Although it’s very very very Portishead/ Massive Attack, it is nice to hear. Can you believe that stuff now sounds retro to me? So this 90’s trip hop throw back is beautiful. I particularly like the jazz in your melody on the line “destiny” that half beat pause takes the melody from good to awesome. The vocals really shine. The vocals are my favorite part (weird for me). VOTE, keeper, mix CD, playlist, example of why I love Song Fight etc.

A reggae beat with rich electronic textures. Lively instrumentation and arrangement, and a tuneful song. One of my picks for this fight.

Totally digging this song. Though it seems like it should be on the Save the Last Dance sound track… a good combination of smooth feel with a rock-
in/hip-hop beat/hook.

The track’s got a good vibe, it’s tight and well produced. Good work.

That’s a daring combination of instruments.  Works out very well.  Interesting song.  Good arrangement.  I can’t really find anything that isn’t great about this song.

I had to take my down load of please stop over to my friends house. His sterio costs more than my house. We sat and listened to your song in absolute silence at least five times.
WOW!
